I'd love to have room and finances for half a dozen dedicated boards, but I don't. So... How bad are multipurpose boards for foiling? I know the best setup for me for foiling (105kg, very experienced intermediate windsurfer, foiling for a few months on an i84) would be something like the Levitator 160 because the track would allow me to use really lifty foils like the i99. How much worse would a Fanatic Blast 145 be, or the Naish Galaxy if it's ever available, or the AHD Topaz ditto?

I'm currently mostly on an old Formula board on which I've reinforced the deck above the box, or a big free ride board using a powerplate for the Powerbox. Between those two boards I can sail on a fin from 10.0 down to 6.2 or so, and foil mostly on a 7.5. Could I find a new home for both of those and set myself up with one board which covered that same range for both fin and foil do you think?

I think any crossover would lose in lightwind against your Formula.
For high wind, guys around here foil with 90-100 wide boards up to around 25 knots.
Little gain, one that could be achieved by not using one of your boards.
OTOH, buying new gear is fun and satisfying.

Crossover boards practically always have the footstraps in the wrong place so you wont really be balanced unless you have a foil with a long distance between the front wing and the mast. Also they have a pinched tail, meaning they support less big sails.

I cannot comment on the performance of a crossover board compared to dedicated boards. What I can say is I have a crossover board, it is at Takuma BX 7'10" by 30" by 138 litres. I use it for windfoiling, for wing surfing, for paddling and I've tried downwind foiling with it. I have an Infinitiy 99 wing and the Infinitiy 84. Both of them work just fine on the board. I do not use foot straps for any of the uses and find it works just fine without them. What I can say is that the board is a lot of fun and I am able to do all the sports successfully. Am I getting maximum performance out of it compared to other boards, no idea and it does not matter to me as I'm having a good time with what I have. I wanted just the one board and I'm glad I went that way.

At 105 kg, perhaps a pretty big cx board would be desireable.
A formula is 100 cm wide, and easy to paddle even for 215 kg ridets.

Hit Scotty McKercher at SMIK up.he can do full customs to match exactly your requirements. I just had this little crossover 6"6x29 @112L made and it goes unreal in sup foil and windfoil modes. I'm sure he could build you a "do it all" board
