Gday
im just curious on peoples thoughts on cleaning up boards. i have a pu board and 1 epoxy. every now and then I'll strip the wax and give the board a good clean. i know one of the local shops used to clean the boards up with methylated spirits. i read somewhere this can be bad for epoxy boards however.
Anyone got thoughts on what other products can be used?
cheers

I use Mineral Turpentine - turps! leave the board in the sun for a couple of minutes to soften the wax - scrape as much as I can off - then use a rag soaked in turps to take the residue off. Been doing it for years without issue - including on a epoxy board.

Shaping dust. Go to your local shaper and ask for a bag off it.

White spirits should be fine but I'm not sure about the Expoxy? Deck grip mobs will often give instruction to clean with white spirits before applying the deck grip. However having said that I'm going to give Shaping dust a crack next time

Kero to remove wax.

But then you need shapers dust to remove the kero residue.

This is what we used when I was a grom fixing boards at a surf shop.

Clean the wax off.

I use a citrus product, just a kitchen cleaning spray.. that old big Kev orange kitchen cleaner was good.

Then a quick wet rub with toothpaste and a sponge.. Toothpaste acts as a cutting/ polishing agent..
