always thought it was grabbers but don't know why. This is important Dave, let's say it's because only a dick grabber (wanker or homo) would surf it then it would be Grabber's (possesive noun) but if it was because a group of these surf it regularly eg the crew out there are all grabbers then it would be spelt grabbers (pluralised noun or collective noun). Hope that helps!

I've always known it as Grabbers, but my mate who was a local when he was a grom 25yrs ago calls it Gravis...

It's definatly gravis. I'm 32 and its been called that for 20 years.
Also the beach south of scarbs everyone calls dog beach has always been called meats.
maybe I'm just too old now and the groms have changed the lingo.
One more further rant trigg is not second carpark or third carpark. It's seconds or thirds. The rock between seconds and thirds is fraggle rock. That's the one that you always manage to get a fin taken off by.I am awaiting the dispute now

South of Scarbs you have Brighton, Kay St, Dog Beach, then Meets at the bottom of Hale Rd. So called because you used to have to run the gauntlet of p o o f s that used the dunes as a meet up place. Luckily for you Razzy they would've been moved on by the time you started surfing.

Edit it's bloody stupid that you can't say p o o f or f a g on here.

The groms next door to our house in Marmion definitely called it gravers or gravis. They didn't spell it for me but it had a V

I've long wondered if Grabbers was the misheard and repeated version of the more correct Gravis?? I have heard both versions since the early '80's

Definately for us older crew it was always called Gravis, but Lachie and all his grom mates call it Grabbers Dave. Why they've given it that name who knows, they can have it I'm too fat to surf it anymore.

Just been put straight by the grom this morning. Gravis is the left hander on the reef where us older crew call it by that name. Grabbers is the next reef north of the path where they usually go right and only go left on high tide as it is super shallow.
