The only difference between the pro model and the standard is the battery size, therefor life. I think Dave said around 4 hours on the pro model.

As for the corrosion around the brass terminals, i said i really have only ever used a fin key to chip the green build up, but actually think I've only ever done it a few times in total.

The charge nodes on my soloshot transmitter get rusty, I rub some ranex rustbuster on with a tissue & it sorts it out.

All in all it's a good product but you still get small boots when you hold the board on the rails and lift it out the water. The new model looks good but I'm not keen on spending another $400 on a unit considering mines only 14 months old

Im not sure what your issue is, but Dave and i get along just fine. Truth is i know he very busy, (Hopefully fixing my board) so why should i not answer if i can.. Im sure if Dave had an issue he would say..

Remember your not replacing the entire unit, its now just the skeleton that gets fitted to the board, the unit swaps board to board..
So only $60 or around $150.00 installed..(Depending on who does it)..

Out of interest if you have the old style (Surfsafe) permanently fitted than apparently the new units give slightly less shock. But me honestly i didn't really notice the difference. (Yes i had the original and still do, plus the new version)..

I'm talking about switching battery packs to the new style not the housing . If the battery is only $60 I got ripped offand yeah mate I know about the skeleton I've got it in a few boards

I don't mind the shock- at least you know it's on and working

Ok sorry i wasn't sure and just wanted to share. The battery is obviously part of the unit. I cant remember how many times Dave said they can be re charged, but my surf safe is coming up to 4 years old..

Just in regards to the corrosion, have had mine for about a year now - no corrosion on the main connection, I always rinse it off.

What I cant seem to get rid of is the corrosion on the teminal on the top and a bit on the holes that charge the unit.

The unit still seems to work fine atm, is this something I should get onto, will this affect the performance down the track.

FYI I have every deterrent known to man on my boards ha ha, if it helps divert or put one off in the slightest then winner winner

Great looking waves

Three of us out about 4-5 weeks ago a white surfaced to the side but behind my mate within a metre had a look and for whatever reason decided not to take him.

He turned a asked me what did I recon............I said fu(ken big dolphin

We kept surfing as you do I felt comfortable as I use a Repla, mates were OK as they are fu(ken nut cases .

As for the odd shock from the Repla at my age any any reboot /heart starter is always welcome
