Anybody plan on watching this? .... I think it will be run this Friday, its forcasted to be 5 to 8 foot and rising thur out the day with really gentle offshore/cross shore winds all day.... sounds like perfect conditions myself... well I think ......... either way this event should be boss, I'm looking forward to watching J.O.B and Bruce Irons dropping into some wide gaping barrels ....... mmmmm sounds tasty ................... the comp will be:
Seven one-on-one battles
Each battle will consist of approximately 20-minutes of paddling in and 20-minutes of towing in
There will be four surfers in the water at all times - two contesting the paddle-in element and two contesting the tow-in element

nahh my dads name isn't Don, starts with D tho haha.......... anyways I've just been told the swell direction might not be ideal for running it on Friday.. seeing as I headed to Bali in a few weeks, I hope its run this Friday ........ here's a few pics/video of the break:
Think its crazy it's a closed event -with everything that red bull do they couldn't get oh&s organised for people to watch from the cape so the only option is TV - weak

I think it's cos it's a national wildlife park and erosion of the sand stone cliffs ........ regardless I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they had to make it a closed event to get permission from the local authorities to hold the event, even then some weren't happy ..... so it's not that crazy really but yeah it sucks...... it is what it is tho'
It came down to getting insurance for the event.
Organises don't need hundreds of people watching from the cliffs.
It's live on Fuel anyway.

This turned out to be a bit of a fizzer I reckon.

Yeh they ran, was a total fizzier, the commentators tried their best to pump it up though, was painful listening to them at times.
3-4ft waves, occasional 6 ft.
Probably only 2 decent waves from the whole event, and they cancelled the tow in.
The highlight for me was watching Rasta surf, he has such an awesome smooth style, so easy to view.
And that crazy dude who tows into the massive waves on the skimboard had a few at the end, no amazing waves, but was just incredible to see his skills.
Oh and seeing Koby Abberton getting smashed and getting washed over the rocks when he was jumping off the cliff was pretty funny also.
Its a good concept and i think it would work in the right conditions.

The repetitive commentary was rather over the top.
Seeing Koby get belted and washed off the rocks was pretty funny , what made it worse was the commentators just finished stroking his ego boasting how awesome he was... Yea Braaa lmao
There where some reasonable sets around the northern beaches earlier but its smaller than yesterday.

yeah I dunno why they held it Sunday... at first it's seemed Saturday was the go but it was changed - wind direction dunno but seemed weird
