Hi guys heading over to the goldy in october, should I take my steamer or just go with the boardies and wetty top?
Probably wont be in the water anymore than 2 hours due to family commitments

today we got the bad weather water beautiful in boardies and 2mm jacket perfect.
Boardies all year round. I feel the cold and have surfed for a couple of hours in July and October. Dawnies may need some rubber though.

In winter in the middle of the day you'd get away with it, but I have never seen anyone surf in boardies first thing in the morning. With air temp as low as 5C and an average around 10C you wouldn't last very long.
In October a springy or a 2mm top will get you through.

boardies it is, but there are plenty of people in full length steamers ( I would be sweating my nuts off)
git some fun waves early in the week but swell has disappeared now

I wore boardies every day through winter with a 2mm smoothie top,I'm not a hero,I am a woosy
Yes some days hit 5c,maybe 5 times ,and yes my legs were cold walking down and getting out,but the water reaching its lowest of 19c for maybe a week was not what I call leg numbing cold . In fact it is so nice when your legs are freezing and you can feel the warmth of the water first on your feet walking over the warm sand etc etc

Did you not read the fact that the water temp is 19c at its lowest and feels nice?
Well we are in for a week of rain and a stiff SE wind so it will get a little chilly for us soft Queenslanders 
Swell due to kick back in the next day or so.
