I have little sympathy for the owners/managers of Gnaraloo. By most accounts, they severely overcharge for access/camping. It is in the interest of the general public for WA's coast to be freely accessible to all, with government-run campsites that charge a nominal fee.
frickin crap BB
go and have a look and make up your own mind
its a bargain based holiday for those who care to make the effort
freely available for all and sundry too
the people there come from all over WA, cockies from mid west & esperance, miners from PH and from around the world too
its not in the general interest of the fragile environment for masses to trample over it.
those who go value the unique place it is,
but it aint no exclusive conclave for the rich and famous
apart from april school hols when the cottesloe set take over, but thats ok because they don't surf when its decent
The demise of gnaraloo was the talk of the nineties when the Japanese bought into it and started building a resort at the station..it all fell in a heap fortunately and the resort lay half finished and wasting away for years. Gnaraloo seems to have a way of sorting itself out. Harsh environment that one.
I have to say, having not been to Gnaraloo for a 6 or 7 years, and going again last year, I was pretty disappointed with the state of the country, whether it be from a poor season, or overstocking with goats, I am not sure.
Otherwise, leave it as it is, but give them some certainty so they can put some capital and maintenance into the station and the current facilities. (And no, I am not referring to wireless at every camp, and hot water showers with decent pressure - which would be nice!) For example, the tip behind homestead looks like sh1t!
frickin crap
Three times the price of Coronation is indeed a "frickin crap" rip off.

So what? Sounds like you haven't even been there before, take into account the much farther distance to travel up there. Maybe uncle col can shut the campground at coronation and build luxury tourist villas and eco tents there too.
It's inevitable. The place is already popular the developers know they can cash in. We can find other spots or go with the flow.
