Taking me young pups up to rotto for a bit of adventure and a few waves for school holidays. Any ideas? I tried sussing it out online but not much info for juniors. Small beachie would be good
The only sand bar break is transit reef, which is a sandbar about 500m offshore. All the rest are reefs not quite for beginners. If they are relatively competent I'd give Strickland a go, if it is not too big...
There's couple of beachies between chickens and stricko's from memory ?? Or maybe it was between stricko's and west end Nothing flash but there were a few ridable waves . Sat there one arvo mind surfing and pondering if they get any good

^^ that is the west end of Salmon Bay, just before Stricko's, needs a bit of swell, but can be fun for youngsters. You will need to do a recon, on the day..
There is not much in the way of beachies on Rottnest Island, about the only real beachie is found at the western end of Salmon Bay, that would be where Tortise is thinking.
I lived there for a few years and that is where I used to take my young groms on body boards, doesn't often get much swell and not much of a wave but at least it is mainly sand bottom.
It is pretty much where the road that goes along Salmon Bay meets the road that goes across the salt lakes and down the middle of the island.
As CGvibes said there is also some soft waves just East of there around the Fairbridge bluff area but with a reef bottom.
How young are they ? Just drag them out to Strickos...my old man chucked me in to surf it when I was young and it didn't do me any harm
hehe thanks. yerrr the young fellas only 6...so even 2ft stricko's going to be double head for him. Better info here than online so cheers. Will definetly suss out those spots though.

Yeah might be a bit much at 6
I use to take my kids to that beachie in salmon bay up the west end .super easy wave for the groms ,the peak changes weekly but safe and rarely gets over shoulder high.
fairbridge bluff is pretty fat on the eastside and tore skin off the groms on the main peak
I take them out bricks or pissheads{kitsonpoint) now and with booties its kid friendly just have to dodge the SUPs
if you are on a boat try dinghy land north of narrow neck probably the best kids right with no reef to end up on ![]()
If its the dingy land that's also called rocky bay or spiders it ends in dry ragged reef Dave. Pretty sketchy right when big. You trying to drown the kids???![]()

sorry i should have said dinghy land only on the small days below 1mt only the left ends up on dry reef
maybe try that beachie first i see the surf schools there in summer![]()
