Any closer to the rocks and you'd need wheels on the bottom of the board

Reds for what

I find the hole idea of red thumbs so boring, and quite honestly a gutless way of posting. I think if people have something to say be it positive or negative post it. If not get lost

Most on the site are anonymous anyway. But they still can't say when they disagree with someones post. so they just thumb it[}:)]

If its because of locations?

Those that red thumbed Bakesy's post must be just jealous as they are getting zip

Love the input, Even if the first vid missed most of the action

(I'll get ready for my red barrage again now)

I'm pretty sure this is the spot that one of Bakesy's mates nearly scalped himself...

Too sketchy for me (but hey, I won't even surf Toms).

I actually prefer red thumbs.
I reckon they are fantastic.
I find green thumbs boring like your pissing in somebody's pocket.

Why not mate? Might as well say it as it will keep drive by crews away if you say the area is a sharks nest or jagged reef and rocks are submerged underneath that wave

Just the rocks on the inside... I just don't like having to think about where I am along the line and when that n-head is going to pop-up and bite me... by the sounds of things JB seems to have found them the hard way a couple of times...

IMO my announcing my dislike for the rocks at Tom's is not going to lessen the crowds there... I rate the wave though - especially the left on a bigger day on the right tide.

Ah k. That waves probably the only 1 I haven't surfed. Again those rocks and what mates have said have made me reluctant to venture out there. Watching blokes struggling to get on shore with the rocks sticking out and the beach washed away does not help either especially if there is elsewhere to go.

scared of rocks eh boys? that would limit your surfing to beachies. That would also explain why certain stretches of coast with strait handers are pretty crowded. If you look close you'll see a guy get a three second barrel, we only filmed for ten minutes that day the rest of the epicness is my hard drive between my ears Lets face it the best waves in this state are reefies that will cause you pain at some point if you surf them often enough, can think of a couple that getting in and out of is very, very sketchy but the risk is worth the reward, just got back from another two hour session this arvo, hope you all got a few today

That looks sick bakesy. I have checked that break a couple of times but always lucked out. You may see my ugly mug in the line up pretty soon. Hope to score it like that....a mate reckons its actually best in summer though....but the winter footage you have looks sick too!

G'day Bakesy. Clearly that's a good wave and from what you have posted delivers the goods regularly. I've surfed plenty of reefs, but after losing a bit of skin when I was younger and having suffered some serious injuries through cycling accidents, I now like to stick to beachies or 'soft' reefs that are pretty flat and 'obvious', as I like to be able to commit to a bit of size and pushing out a few moves without having to worry about where the rocks are...

Kudos to the blokes that have that place wired and score...

yeah fair call GPA do what you have to do mate, don't worry it's always in the back of your mind on takeoff, on low tide this place looks gnarly but when the swell hits it like that day it's all good, you see me f-up in the vid on a pretty solid one but I was at least 20m from the surgeons table, believe me if the beachies are working I'll go there, got a couple of spots that work really well on a north swell and wind. I used to surf a northern reefie all the time in the 90's got good at ding repairs and wound maintenance

Reef doesn't really bother me, until i hit it

I sadly surf mostly with Reef but will say Booties are the best thing i ever did. especially for the slow walk out and in when we all tend to look a little stupid and drunk

But i don't like taking of with reef exposed inside me, it really freaks me out and i normally spook myself to much to make the section. Best reef can often be the one you don't see

How is your mate going Bakesy who played touch the reef with head

he's all good and back in the water whenever it's on He has a photo of the damage after they took the blood soaked towels off his head. He said I could post it if I wanted to, no way that will happen as it would probably be taken down the moment it goes up, but if you guys are keen and not squeamish I'll post it

haha nah mate. Just Tom's. I won't name spots but I've surfed most of metro. For some reason Tom's just gives me the heeby jeebys. I'd even prefer cott on a low tide with the reef sticking out. Taking off too deep there has made for some fun paddle ins If the swell and tides are right, I'm normally round the corner from there! And I agree, reefs are where it's at although after a storm the beachies are good for a few weeks...

There is no reef at Cott except in summer when Dummies is uncovered. Or Slimeys up the other end.

Yeah me i don't do cliffs

Especially after having a mate lose a board in heavy swell at Guillotines or Gallows (could never get the two right) as a young fella. Took us about ten minutes to move the last two meters onto the rock ledge with three guys and two boards

Tell that to my back Hey mate, think I saw ya out surfing the other day. Was that you catching waves left right and centre off a certain groyne and chatting with a bloke with dreadies (on what looked like a mini smmons)?

Bakesy sooner or later someone is going to give the location of the wave away, I would be careful if you want to keep rolling that dice...take off spot is very small. Just sayin

There was a kid with dreads on Wednesday on a high volume board, but not a mini Simmons I don't think. He was with his mate, a local kid. I didn't get many waves that day though. That spot's not happening this year, just not enough sand movement. Shore dump with backwash. Zero banks. Full blown summer bathymetric pattern in August. Depressing.

That wasn't you who left the carpark down to the beach just before me? Parked just opposite, near the stairs?
