First board I bought was an 8' soft top that snapped a few weeks ago in small surf while paddling out. Very happy to hear today that it will be replaced under warranty. Back to a 2 board quiver :)

That's good.

Usually they'll just tell you that you abused it or something like that.

I assume you've built up a good relationship with a surf shop already.

That's extremely good PR on the companies behalf to replace it.

Unless it's a manufacturing fault there is no need to replace a board like that under warranty. More boards snap paddling out than on waves I'd think. It's to do with people in shallow water, they dive off and then let the lip of a breaking wave guillotine it across the board when a wave comes. The board has no chance against the weight of a lip even in mostly small waves. Like Karate chopping a piece of wood with the grain.

Make sure you thank them graciously and recommend their boards to your friends, they obviously care for your business.

I have snapped two boards in 20 plus yrs in the ocean and both were whilst paddling out and at Manly!! Once at Queenscliff when I duck dived a 2ft shore break and hit the sand and the other at 6ft plus The Bower and duck dived a monster and came up holding two bits!!! Made for a horrific swim in

Both boards had served me well and were not far off their natural life ending anyway.....Its weird how some people snap them all the time. Maybe I have just been lucky. I try to avoid situations where there is an increased risk but sometimes it can not be helped.

Congrats Kadil that is a great result.

I really don't want to name them or the board manufacturer in case someone infers that they sell faulty products or in case they get a flood of claims. I am extremely happy with the service and their attitude and will find other ways to thank them for their decision.

Happy to have a board so my daughter can continue learning and occasional visitors can also have some fun.

I will buy more stuff there for sure :)
