Interesting read on how some longboarders give us all a bad name. Forget the legal discussion in this article, but I believe there is a time and place for everything!http://www.swellnet.com.au/news/3507-longboarders-legropes-and-the-law
i agree, yet we could take this argument further. what about the ****wit shorty hipster teaching his girl to surf at a perfect and packed lm. pushing her into waves that people are already on....****wits will be ****wits no matter where you go in life
A guy paddled out at a spot, i was that was out of the way, small break that i had to myself and two kids. Also another learner who i encouraged back out into the water. Three more turn up and one didn't have a leggy.. I was wary with my kids and he was very nice and super careful but he would be swimming all the time..Really didn't see the point as he was definitely no KS![]()
It just seems plain stupid..Bit like rooting with out franger in a aids camp![]()
I think it was a well written article - thanks for posting. Some of the comments are right on point, some are stupid and some are down right scary.....I think that leg-ropes should be used if there is any chance of hitting someone else.....whenever I see young hipsters on their short boards trying to be cool with out a legrope I mention it to them. I have also been known to grab their board and fling it on to the whitewash to insure it gets all the way to the beach so the owner does not have far to go to get a legrope. They tend tog et the idea then. All the old boys up my way on their Mals use them so no need.
Interesting that the article was based on an event at Manly. We had a couple of touring surfers from Manly at our local break recently. Both riding longboards without leggies. Sure enough one ended up on the rocks.
