Thanks lads it was full on no phone had to leave him there 1k in the bush to find the nearest house to call the ambos then double a grown man to aid him but he was already gone.
Moving on some of the guys at the gym have some sweet HD's.
It's not a classic but it's very practical..... Hoping to be riding her again in the next few days. Lots of adventures planned on her the next 7 weeks
i love it Ted,,,works for me. peeps say to me, you owned a scooter hahahaha
i say best bike I've owned,,,sorry i don't get it..
only reason i sold it was rego and all the other regos i owe.
Bullet Wallahs will build you a Royal Enfield and get it thru customs here for around $5000. Being built on a base bike over 30 years old, there's no rego/compliance problems. That was the quoted price in 2008 when I bought a bike from them and rode it from Delhi to Goa with the wife on the back. There's a million aftermarket parts available at super cheap prices, they'll build to whatever theme you like.
If I was ever going to spend Harley money on a modern classic, I'd probably go a confederate instead. Because everyone needs a 2.1 litre v-twin
Sad story Mac, happened to me to, it was hard at first, but I loved bikes so much.......
Please let's not gt confused with classic and custom, and just plain old. The dilution of the word "classic" was I think caused by the Deus blokes to sell their over priced cheaply made Jap bikes that no one would want in their original guise.
I have a 1982 Harley Sturgis, they made 1200 or so of them in 81/2. And again 91/2. It's a recognised classic, like the Triumph Bonneville and the Ariel Square 4. Among many others.
A Classic is an iconic bike, like the Ariel, Norton, Bonneville, anything that held an importantpart of motorcycling history.
Cobra, your Harley is very nice, not a classic yet, but avery nice custom bike that you should be proud of. That Ducati is just one of a raft of ugly new age Production bikes, and will probably not last the test of time.
Enfields, there is another question, Classic? If you talk about the old ones that are still being ridden. (google "The answer is always yes" an Aussie bloke rode a very old Enfield from Australia to the UK this year.) the new ones are pretty good bikes, and are a good way to see what it was like to ride an old style bike that in its day wasn't all that good.
I spend a couple of days a week working on Harley's and scooters, and there are lots of opinions out there, mine is just one, so sorry if I offend. The worst thing I see is when someone buys a very good, well looked after vintage bike, that has all its parts and can be restored to its original condition, and they chop it up into a pile of un-rideable crap and then call it a classic. It ain't, it's a custom yes, but a 65 Bonneville that's chopped up and can never be restored correctly is just plain wrong. The original reason for bobbing, or chopping a bike was because owners couldn't buy or afford to buy the right parts, so they just used whatever they could find, to make their bike ride-able. This then became a true movement, and was quite acceptable in general classic bike circles, but the bloke who came in the the shop last week with a complete, pristine Iron Head Sportster and said he was chopping it was severely rebuked because he was really ruining a very good motorcycle.
Anyway, opinions are like are soles, so if I offend, sorry, heres a pic of my old girl winning a prize for the 1980 and up Local rally.

Tut tut Michael ir to ugly duke....the sd 900 is a classic
The new ones are just as wonderful.... Far better sitting with a duke growling between your legs than a americana blah blah
You were spot on about the douche bikes though. Great marketing,in saying that I have seen a few(not douche) imports that look and sound really nice.

And my favourite quote from the story is
"If I'm going to spend my disposable income on a bike, I want it to be unique," he said. "I don't want to drop $40,000 on my bike and have some guy roll up at a light riding the same thing. Ever."
custom Jap bobber new old chopper scooter brit cafe classic bagger digger cruiser racer dirt.
who cares,
its what you like that counts.
people buy bikes for many different reasons, lets not turn this into a pissing comp
lets enjoy peoples rides
like my brother says about classic cars
you don't buy a classic for their driving performance
thats why i also have a HSV
