Stop early is this key. Have a sundowner at 4pm and knock it on the head by 8. Wake up feeling just like normal. When you are pissfit though anything is possible

I'm almost 44, definitely don't spring back as well as in my youth. From 18 to 22 I went out Thurs-Sun after playing a drinking game (coins) with 8 mates & two 4ltr wine casks of Fruity Lexia. FRi/Sat I'd get home at about 3am before getting woken up by a mate at 7am that only smoked mull to go surfing. I'd be seedy as, but a quick stop for 2 bottles of lucazade & a pie we'd head off on a surf trip somewhere...I'd be fine 1/2 way through a 3hr surf & ready to do it all again that night after a few arvo beers.

I think the cigs would knock me around more than the alcohol. Quit them 5 years ago & thats made a diff. These days I typically drink a pint of Sharaz & 4-6 pints of homebrew daily. But never have more than a pint after dinner unless I've worked an evening shift. If I miss dinner I'm farked for the next day. Or if I'm in Japan drinking Japanese beer, tastes alright but damn does it give you the worst hang overs of any beers on the planet I'm aware of. Been to a few Tokyo Youtube content creaters parties & they take me 2 or 3 days to recover.

I don't miss the surf though, coz I consider it the best hangover cure I know...that & good food & more beer

I don't drink anymore. Problem solved.

Just spent a lovely day at Vasse Felix with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Wife had a wife. I had a lemon, lime and bitters.

Big thanks to Paul and Janet Holmes a Court putting that on for families.

Not drinking helped my surf fitness no end.

For me I believe there are health benefits to red wine & since I'm drinking home made beer I'm only drinking the good stuff (ie no preservatives etc)

At the end of the day exercise, diet & other stuff is impotant...not just if you stop drinking & swearing

A recent interview with Kelly Slater reminded me of this tape I'd listened to probably about the same time as him back in the mid 90's. I was in Apollo Bay Victoria & a girlfriends mum was banging on about colloidal silver. The tape was part of the sales pitch. Thing is there are so many attributes contributing to good health combined by genes & the environment in which you have grown up. ie stressful/relaxed or old aspestos house with chain smoking parents/brick house on the fringes away from heavy industry & freeways. You could be the most clean living mofo around & still succumb to some generic trait that leads to your downfall. I think its just best to make the most of every day, get out there, don't be fussy, be positive & have fun...cheers

At my age 'n bad habits, I've found that if I drink lite beer, mid strength or super, I don't notice the difference in the way I surf, I'm still OAF (Old Anf Farked) so I keep a good supply of libations on hand just to keep all things loose.

I don't drink much and am not game fit as I once was.

Yes we had a big night Saturday into Sunday, probably too late, its a zoo out there.
But hey its the least I could do was to give the staff a smashing xmas party.

I'm the same. I might get on it maybe once or twice a year but thats about it. I'm going out with this girl from a big family and theres always a turnout on. Her brothers and some of the in laws get on it all the time but I'm not interested. Would rather feel better the next day. Maybe they think I'm a bit unsociable but thats not my problem.
