I piss in them before during and after, anyone want to borrow a wetty?
I spent a lot of years sailing skiffs with Helmy.
This generally happened once or twice a week, on Saturday and / or Sunday.
You would bring your sailing gear - wetsuit, booties, gloves, trap belt down in your waterproof sailing bag.
Remove it from the bag, put it on, go out and race, piss in it, sweat in it, whatever.
You would then come in, shower, possibly still in the gear, or you possibly abandoned it in the car park, put it back in the waterproof sailing bag, and take it home.
Apparently some people took it out of the bag, washed and dried it, then put it back in the bag, ready for the next sailing adventure.
Being a busy chap, this seemed like a total waste of time, very inefficient, when you could just leave it in the bag, and there it was, ready to go next time.
Some of my fellow skiff sailors suggested this made it smell bad, but I just took this as boyish banter and general good humoured fun.
I am sure at least twice, my sailing bag disappeared over winter , causing me to buy all new gear. Helmy denied any knowledge of what the fate of my sailing gear could have been.
Now I am old and sensible, I have replaced the sailing bag with my VW van.
My wettie, unwashed, is piled carefully in the back with booties, whatever else.
Possibly hung from racks I have under the roof, but towels get preference on those.
Winter tests things in Melbourne, but the bootie warmers I think I mentioned earlier, help the drying.
Eldest daughter has commented when I have dropped her off at the station "Something smells in here, really quite bad Dad".
