Just got the go ahead to order a new stick....something which I haven't done for at least the last 3 years (not counting the Brewer)....hopefully I will be catching up with Greg Brown next week and ordering a new gun:

8'0 x 21 1/4 x 3 1/8 or something like that

2 + 1 me thinks

Made for lots of fast paddling into lots of big waves veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery early

I'm kinda excited

Sounds awesome.

Excitement levels? Extreme I am sure.

I have my recent 8' and 9'6" 2+1. Love them. Getting in early is good. Great. Makes it easy. Yeeeewww!

I got hurt because I didn't have the eight footer and was sitting further in as a result. Tell her it's a safety issue too.

Stoked for you.

PMSL

Now Tux as you well know the colour scheme is much more important than the shape in the Greenroom once you get over 8 foot. Any thoughts?

The new board will be a lot wider than that lovely yellow board in your entrance way .

Why not use the Brewer? Or is that a pool room board?

Doggie - I have had the pleasure of seeing this piece of machinery in the flesh. It's absolutely amazing. It's very narrow and has loads of rocker - but then longer boards do appear to. It's a full on weapon - one I imagine that is built for nice clean conditions as opposed to big Vico swells the majority of the time. However - just owning that thing means you have huge Nads - as you have to ride it eventually personally I could not imagine a day where I would ride that board in waves that it was meant for. Tux has much bigger Nads than me.

How big do they need to be to need this thing then..

Huge then - as that is bigger than Tux's Not that size doesn't matter when you get that big. Unless you are Drip or Tux the rest of us mere mortals are just happy to watch. Well I am anyway. Thats a lovely looking board SP. Hard to shoot them though when they are that big - you did a great job.

Yeah that is about the limit
Think this one was 12.. Had to go diagonal.

Absolute board porn..
About $5k if you are looking for a wall hanger.

Ps if someone wants to crop and straighten that would be good..

Its 8'6 x 19 1/2 x 3 1/4 off the top of my head...like ted said its got quite a bit of rocker...I got it second hand but it still cost a bomb....I reckon it would go great at Ulu's or somewhere like that...

I'm after something with a bit more width forward less about performance and more about survival

You have me all wrong. I have big boards because I have small nads. It's all about survival for me too. 10 foot is about it. I have mates who reach for their 7'2" when it reaches 10' and surf a 6'2"-6'4" up until then (I am thinking of a couple of guys in particular. Plus I start getting real fussy about which waves I surf when it's over 6'. Big channels are a necessity. So no big North Point, Womb etc. I'm after waves I don't have to get barrelled on. Some of the open ocean things may have more power, but they aren't as top to bottom.

So small nads.

Sometimes I like to think I surf them because I am more intelligent and have the right equipment too.

But then I remember that those blokes surf better than me in all conditions.

So small nads AND useless.

19 1/2 is narrow for a board like that I guess, must have a heap of volume.

Darth yeah I would say it is reasonably but a lot of guns sit around that mark...most of the ones I've seen in the last few years sit somewhere between 19 and 21 inches thick....its not like the 90's when I had a 7'6 x 18 1/2 and everyone used to call it the boat

Thats was just a gamble and you obviously won..

My boards made it over and back with minimal damage but the twit at Perth airport coming home, rolled out the trolley with all the bulky luggage sitting on top my two boards needless to say after a virtual non stop flights all the way home, he copped an ear full
