I set the soloshot up a bit wrong yesterday. After a few waves I was out of frame to the right, so most of yesterday was missed until I came in, changed battery, board & set up the soloshot again...pretty thrustrating editing & just seeing glimpes of cutbacks ...but oh well, still a magic day...the last clip is a funny one coz it captures someone on the next break perfectly while I'm clambering in over the reef

Cheers Captain...editing another one from today too...Just for the record I don't post them up as an Ego thing. I watch these vids & think fark why did I cutback there, why didn't I hit the lip harder, why didn't I go for a floater at the end there. Very average surfing...I post up the vids coz I enjoy making them & sharing them. Thanks for the comments, they're appreciated

Lucky I uploaded my surfing video's too...I had a hard drive die 2 weeks after I got back from Japan. I lost 2/3 of my Japan trip photo/video & all my surfing video. Devastated about the Japan media lost, very lucky to have the surfing vids backed up online

The guy on the mal is a friend called Mal. We often share waves...I don't care if someone I trust is enjoying the shoulder on their longboard on fat waves. The guy on the blue boaty board is ok, I think he was hoping I'd fark the takeoff or something. Was getting a bit crowded & less consistent by that time.

the hayden looks perfect for you mate, I reckon you were surfing well on it.
Keep posting the vids am loving the shared stoke.
I wish I scored this week - but didn't. The local was good on Monday but I only got 2 waves before I got cobblered. Then out of the water for 2 days after that.
Went out yesterday morning but quickly realised I should have headed to your left. Swell way to groomed for my beachy, too straight and too much weed.

The HS is a good board, just needs at least chest high to get going...havn't surfed your beachy since the 90's, but love the left side of the point up your way. You get 2 swell directions wedging up on the reef there for some nice lefts & rights

Another yesterday, set the cam up a bit wrong again. Not quite as bad as the day before lol need to centre more left

I paid $400 for the soloshot 1 from a Qld company Feb 2014. They were the first Oz biz to import & sell them that I was aware of. Before that postage from the US was a deal breaker, they were $399 US + $180 postage. You can get some decent 2nd hand deals on them now, I bet people are having trouble with the charging nodes on the armband transmitter, you have to rust buster them as soon as you get home or it rusts up bad & won't charge. There is also a soloshot 2 which also pans up/down additionally to just left/right & can be remote zoomed which would have dropped price in the first model. But if I had to buy another one, I'd personally still go the first model coz I have no use for those features.

I'm using a Panasonic FZ150 camera, great bang for buck when I bought it for $400. It has a fixed lens with zoom up to 24x & excellent auto focus during zooming. At the time I researched cameras, DSLR's were not able to autofocus while zooming. I need that for everyday video making, like focusing on something close then panning over & zooming into something further away in the distance. I'm very happy with it & if I needed to buy another camera I'd buy the next model FZ200 unless something else had similar specs but longer battery life. Which is the most useful thing in this situation. I used to get about 2 hrs 20 mins, but now down to about 2hrs which is still very good. Would love to have 3.5 hrs though.

Focal length is zooming in about 75% of the 24x zoom of the fixed lens of the FZ150. Hope that makes some sense coz I'm not really sure to be honest.
