I have a problem with the bone between the ribs called Xiphoid (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xiphoid_process)

Gave it a rest for 3 months on Drs advice but still a problem.

Has anyone tried these paddleair.com/testimonials/

Any other suggestions or do I just sell my as new long boards?

Ive got the same drama ! Wasn't so bad on the kneeboard ,able to rest it by just kicking and arching back leaning on elbows
. Then long board made it flair up .

So .... Now I have found total cure .

SUP !

They look like a good idea. My way of thinking would be with an injury like yours, that a padded vest, albeit filled with air would still hurt just by having pressure against. I'm not really sure how painful it is,I'm sorta going off tail bone pain, and I don'. Thing a blown up donut under my arse would help.....

Hi Chrispy

I have an impact vest which has padding placed either side of the problem area (similar to your donut idea) and still after a short time I felt the problem reoccurring.

So I tend to agree with you that the air padding would still apply direct pressure and may not work.

I might try to get a bag out of a wine cask and try that before investing further.

You can get those vests through McTavish. One of the guys on the Maldives trip had one, and loved it. For people who don't surf heaps, this adds nice padding to the rib cage....

Wine Cask concept... I would first try "fake paddling" while lying on a thin air-bed, like a "Therm-a-rest". Those thin camping mattresses. Gauge whether you think that helps at all... Failing that, I'd be seeking specialist medical advice, and perhaps get private health cover, while talking to a few doctors... I wonder if a quick little operation could sort the problem out...? I'm not sure... But the AFL players go in for all sorts of "procedures" under the knife...

The good thing about the vests is that they seems very easy to adjust "on the run". You could start without air, then just inflate it when it starts to get tender... or Vice-Versa...
