Yep, they're terrible now. Never worth pulling down any of those streets to check, just drive straight to Cooly

A waste of money. Kirra when it works only gets used by a few people. Money could be spent better elsewhere.

What does make me laugh is I have spoken to so many people who surfed at the last all-time session. Yet in reality there are fark all people brave or skilled enough to sSurf there. I love going to watch when it's going off.

And yes all the beaches are crap. Move on nothing to see

I surfed it on my first drive up the east coast just after Easter in 2001 from memory....it was about head high and absolutely perfect with a couple of bigger ones every now and again.....timed it nicely as there were not too many out.....one of the best surfs of my life. I reckon if it was like you would find more than a couple of hundred out there in this day and age - might even restrict the zoo crowds (as if)

i'm sure a lot of people don't know what they are in for when it going off. must be one of the hardest breaking waves around the traps. pro's make it look easy, but getting on and making the drop on those freight trains takes skill.

get it wrong and its going to bitch slap you good and proper.

mind you it can be the ride of your life- so big and round

I know you and I have been around a while Lacey no offence mate and we have both seen it at 10 foot + perfect barrels, its a show to be seen and I hope it gets back to its best so the young groms of today get a chance to see this perfect wave.

Who else has seen it in the flesh?

Kirra.

Yes LL I hear ya - I saw it when we were driving north on route to Nossa a week before hand and it was out of control and scary - the blokes out there made it look a lot easier than it was.....I stayed safely on land and we headed for Nossa which was amazing stopping in at Kirra on our way south again. I imagine there is a lot of water moving down that point when the size kicks in.

Burleigh was also going off that first day - massive!

Have you seen North Point in WA when its firing ? That place is also very very scary and not for the faint hearted.

most times you need to be jamie mitchell just to stay in one spot never mind paddling up the point.

i remember surfing there one time as it was building big. think i spent 4 hrs out there as well as surfing pumping d/bar for two day before.

next day i was completely shot to pieces- my body felt like a toothache

Not sure how factual this statement is.....

Working in their favour is that volumes of sand running through TRESBP have reduced since the 2004/05 peak when the operators had a surplus of sand on the Letitia Spit side to pump.

Its my understanding that there was a misalignment of objectives and cashola which caused this issue with the pump operators being paid by the cubic metre of sand that was pumped. Naturally you would pump the most you could under these circumstances surely

As for 'going off' - it was going off that day Chrispy - absolute perfection......perfectly shaped cylinders running down the point one after the other

I will grab some pics off it on Friday Ted. I would like a couple of rock.grounds built up my way and a cruise ship terminal with a bad ass casino
