I tend to get a bit lazy sometimes to,your'e not the only one Mac.I only live 5 mins from my break to!...
I over think new surf breaks that I haven't surfed before and get something in my head that stuffs me up(can't ride properly), it's something I've done for years,most recently was RT8 when we surfed A it's the first time I've been out there and I was like a fish out of water.Once I surf the break a couple of times I seem to be ok.I was like it with Sandon Point,Lennox Head and a fair few others to!..

Van Wilder took me to the A ,,,, took me about 20 minutes to realise she'll pick you up if you inhabit the inside G spot ,,,, just don't EVER take yer eye of them razor rocks

Yeah dunno what it is Pupmiester,I was the same when I moved here went out the southern end reef here and farked up badly after a few more surfs there all good now
I think I told you about this when I was up there didn't I?....

yeah that's right think you did brother - mind you , you earnt a bit of credit finally get out at back beach the previous day I'm told I looked at it & initially thought fark it why not , then saw a couple of SB'ers get sandbank flogged & came to my senses pretty quick

Mate there was one poor farker who looked like he got skull dragged all I could see were bits of feet sticking up every so often in the sets of 3 or whatever they were geeeeez

I have been watching clips of CJ Nelson & Harrison Roach far too much, awesome surfers and love their style but it got me questioning my fins, board type, skill etc...then a mate watched the same clip and went "look at how good those waves are"..

Then I realised you only surf as good as the waves you have, the waves I surf most days are pretty crappy by standards of a lot of people (including the mates I convince to paddle out) but when I switch off thinking about all of that and just go surfing I feel I find my rhythm a lot more, may not be able to nose ride and carve mals like the pros but I am having fun with the waves I have got.

One thing I am having fun with though is fins but not from a 'what can I get out of it' and 'what works and doesnt' point of view but just trying different things on different days, best part is I am having fun with it.

Another thing that is helping me keep it simple is a two board quiver atm - a 9'4 Mal and a 10' SUP, this is not by choice 100% but choosing to look after the fam instead of expanding the quiver, will get another board down the track but no rush!

Due to having a chancellor of the ex-checquer for my wife, I've been really limited to how many boards I can have. So, I've never over-thought hardware. I have my Diverse 10'1" and a Wayne Deane 9'4" plus the beautiful Grace 10'6". Grace doesn't go out much, she's too pretty for a crowd. The Deane stays at home now for visitors, because I've learned to love the Diverse. It's good in anything I've ever surfed. No change of fin or position of same. Just wax it up and surf what you brought.

What I do overthink are the conditions. Many a day I'll sit and watch, maybe it's better somewhere else, maybe it's not. About 75% of the time I overthink the conditions and hope for a better wave somewhere else, I lose out and don't even get the board out of the car. If one of my mates is around, it's even worse. We end up talking each other out of going in. Except for OB of course, he'll surf in anything and I've often followed him into the water at what looks to be a crap break and managed to get a good session . I've also followed him into the water and wanted to punch him because it was so crap..... Remember that day at North Curly OB?

I can put up with your grizzling, but it was a bit much to demand petrol money from me

Yes my son made me aware of those, hat were the travel period We saw some for mid next year?

Thanks mate I saw those flights hmm very tempting.

Knee is coming along slowly , spoke to another specialist the other day while getting treatment for my hyperextended elbow, he explained why they get reluctant to cut you open, long story but other than bearable pain and clicking its coming along fine slowly but its getting there, the elbow is on the improve as well.
