One of my favourite boards . Birthday present from the kids last year . Hoping the little Emerald comes up just as good .Interesting - I don't really know much about the Emerald brand so googled it after buying the board . This exact board comes up in the Cronulla Surf Museum site .Apparently boards from the shaper Robert Liddell are very collectible . Sadly he drowned in the surf back in the 80 s at Wanda beach .

I was able to find a very clear image of the original logo off the www. Sent it off to a signage company and got them to re-do it in exactly same size as the original that I had to cut out of the board (which I have kept). Cost about $180 including production of 8 adhesive prints laser cut to shape. I will be putting mine over the top coat of resin and spraying a clear coat over that.

Talking to a bloke last night that has had emerald boards for years - reckons they made their logos in really thick rice paper so good chance will be able to save it - worth a try

Just received the emerald logos back from the sign writer - have come up pretty good . He is going to redo them onto some sort of rice paper so I can fibreglass them back on . Pretty happy with the way the board is coming up . Have removed all the water damage , plugged all the holes , patched the tail ,just the nose to patch , then waiting on some yellow tint from shapers and the final logos and she will be back in the water in time for summer .

Little board renovation so far . Fibreglassed and used Solarez on a rail crack I had missed last night .3 Previous experiences with solarez it's taken forever to dry just using UV . This time thought I would play it safe and catalysed it at 2 percent . Anyway here it is 12 hours latter still wet . Anyone else had the same experience or is it just too cold here

I have had it not go off if the sun isn't bright. I was told to just leave it in the sun for longer. From what I understand catalyst won't make it go off quicker as the resin needs UV light to harden not extra catalyst.

Don' think the temp matters it' more about the time exposed to sunlight.

i've heard the same thing. I think generally the higher the temperature the more uv. i haven't tried one but you could always try a uv torch to speed up the process

Thanks SP and Chrisp . Just pealed tape off after 24 hrs now still tacky . Posted after my last experience in facebooks backyard board shapers and they all reckon they added catalyst at around 1 percent just as a precaution to make sure it went off .
Love the concept but might have to just have to stick with conventional resin until the sun gets a bit brighter .or get a UV torch - would be magic if it worked

Watching a solarez utube video last night on putting in finboxes ( have another old board with cracked finboxes ) . Old mate reccomends adding catalyst to solarez at around 1 percent to the area under the finbox where UV won't get to .
Have about a quarter of a drum of solarez left , thinking will use it up and then change to something else.
Have the board out in the sun again trying to get it dry

Mine is all done. Ive decided it will be a wall hanger though. Up come, its not THE best but for someone who has never touched a surfboard before Im happy with it as a display piece/heirloom. I side went on to make one from scratch which is a 9' and Ive been surfing that one for a month or so now and loving it. Im now starting planning to make my next one which I'm thinking a 9'4 or 9'6.

Tried the shapers sunbake UV catalyst this afternoon . Magic stuff - half an hour in the afternoon sun at 10 degrees resin dry . Now I get why everyone is so wrapt in UV catalyst .
I am sure the solarez works in some climates - probably Qld , but it must be too moist here in tassie .
