I know I may be preaching to the converted but here goes anyway.![]()
I turned 60 two weeks ago and also went for my regular skin check. Something I believe we should all do.
Long story short, 12 solar keratosis burnt off various spots of the old bod. Prescription for Aldara for three BCC's on my chest and $150 for a new cream for three BCC's and one SCC on my face.![]()
Even though I have worn Wet Shirts and sunscreen since they were available, lots of damage was done before this time and when I was young.
I get checked every six months and each time have a new crop of the little buggers to deal with, at least I have never had a melanoma.
so the point of this post.
be sure you use a good quality sunscreen, get checked regularly and do what your doctor says regarding sun exposure.
We all want to be around feeling the stoke for as long as possible.
Thanks for listening.![]()

Too true ET, great post. I go once a year might shift to 6 months.
It's so avoidable!
Thinking of getting one if those 1.5 Radiator wetties for summer. The less in the sun for a long period the better.
Mate I'm almost 20 years younger than you & I've been having solar ketosis's burnt & cut off for the last 6 years...I've been wearing a hat surfing for the last 3 years...preach away bro ![]()
Agree ET..your back in my day when our sunscreen was Peanut oil and Vinegar..when you bothered..or a bit of Zinc on the hooter
..so far so good for me, just a couple here n there...don't think our (well many of us) Pommy ancestory helped us either..![]()
Good advice, been years since I was checked, must pull my finger out and get down there.
I do remember one funny aspect of my last visit, the specialist had a very distinctive name that suggested he was in the wrong branch of medicine.
Dr Clapp ![]()
