Check out some of the "Duct Tape " during the Vans contest One dude did fin first take off. Plenty toes on nose but cross step and good old stand on tail bottom turn hit the lip

Trim & Flow are key...also the position on the wave, aiming to stay in the pocket. Whatever manoeuvres suit your style are fine but the aim to stay in the pocket. Finally the cross step is quintessential with long boarding and should be the aim of any aspiring slider....even just one cross step forward and back is good enough...just get it into your game!
laceys lane said.. You should ride a longboard like you are cheating. Well. Thats how i feel when i got that 10 ft seaplane again
You just stick to your shortboarding mate and try to stay injury free rest up I've got a new nick name for you, it's called Crime Safe haha you got some
I do know around here when its head high seeing anyone riding a noserider go anywhere near the nose of the board is rare. The board is simply used as a high volume wave harvester for trimming straight across the wave.

Thats great information
Observation actually. Now take that observation and think about whether a change in the board design they are using in overhead waves could be improved over a noserider. Less width in the nose and probably overall, less foam, lower swing weight and so on. Maybe easier steep take offs, different feel, maybe more fun.
Yeah I was out on the weekend a guy I sold a 10 noserider to was all over it wave after wave after wave I had the wrong board with me got me thinking, I went home and canceled a order I had placed it was a smallish board volume is king in those conditions.
The way that makes you, as an individual, the happiest without worrying about what anyone else thinks.
It's not a team activity and if you derive pleasure from doing it in whatever way you can, not only are you better for it, those around you benefit from it too.
