I have a real reason for disliking Asian imported boards, I've been part of a industry which closed down in Australia due to Chinese imports so I speak with passion and first hand experience which I've mentioned before.

Mac your industry was closed down by the australian government agreeing with UN ideals.
They sold you out like many of our industries.
They are still doing it

Whos building the boards is irrelevant

Those horrible bastard at the UN trying to get people out of poverty and trying to give people a fair go and better quality if life.

Australias wage costs and cost of living killed manufacturing not free trade. Poor countries have a surplus of cheap labour and lower living cost therefore can produce goods at a lower cost.

And then add to that the fact that Australian are happy to buy cheaper goods than Aussie made products and you have the end of manufacturing.

If you'd like to discuss tariffs we can move onto protectionist economics but that doesn't work either. E. G propping up the car industry.

I try to extend my purchases of local products far beyond just surfboards. Owning a couple of Chinese boards is keeping others from buying them once they see me kooking it on them.
Just out of curiousity have you ever asked Bob why he had some board models made by Surftech?

Bob does not have a say in it as he does not own the business nor his own name

So based on others doing the same thing i can only assume it was for the owners of mctavish to make money ? Mac ?

That's correct Bob sold his name to Warren Cornish in the mid to late 70's .the story is Bob confronted Warren who Bob purchased all his raw materials from and said Warren I can't pay you for the goods, Warren said we'll sign your name over and consider debt paid. Warren past away some years ago.

Yeah. The Lima pact and all that stuff.

Personally i think we were sold out . But depends on your views of sovereignty i guess
But its just not that simple to blame asians is my point

Agree 100% LL. People are the same everywhere they just want the best for themselves and family and you can't blame them for that.
