**** you Gold Coast blokes make me laugh a bit of sand spat on the beach Bla bla.

want a real ****n problem, see how angry you'd get if your kids picked this up on the beach.

I was sent this photo today ,,,this was found on a local beach up here yesterday by a work colleague of my wife.

She scratched it to read what it was.

YEP a live grenade, I'd say washed down from shoalwater bay where the army plays it games.
it was blown up today by the army.

It's an exceptionally good evening for me, I just returned from my walk and saw my first echidna in the front yard of a house across the road from some bush near my place.

It was just aimlessly wandering around sticking its hooter into nooks and crannies, not bothered by me in any way, I reckon I was watching it for around 5 minutes and it would have walked within 3 metres of me.

All this, in a place that about 30 minutes (out of hours) from the CBD of the biggest city in this wide brown land.

Had a grin from ear to ear ever since.

I should now work harder at trying the see the only other monotreme, a platypus in the wild, before I cark it.

i think i saw one once near Summer Hill creek at Bathurst almost 45 years ago, but I can't be sure.

Congrats Obct
its a buzz seeing animals for the first time.
best one I saw
i was fly fishing this mountain stream in the Vic high country . I could hear all these birds going off
when I walked around the stream bend there was a tree log across the stream with a Lyrebird standing
on the log with its tail fanned out Making different birds sounds kookaburra magpies whip bird bell bird and
heaps of others,I stood dead still and watched the show & thought how lucky am I will never forget this.

i still get a buzz every time I see whales.

just like this.

Yeah, I think I'm really lucky be where I am, although I could do with a few less brush turkeys, one of them keeps rooting the next doors chooks.

apart from that, we've got a couple of wallabies that pop in most days for a visit, plenty of kookaburras, blue toungs, the odd goanna, had a red belly black snake shoot across the garden last summer, a few tawny frog mouths.

There's a down side as well, when it gets a bit wet we tend to get quite a few leaches, that's the gift that keeps on giving, those things make me itch for a week after I've been hit.

I get to see whales a lot at work. Saw plenty heading north this year . Also seals. They lay on top of ships rudders like big lazy dogs. Have seen ships come in to berth with seals still laying on top of the rudder. I'll put some whale pics up tonight . I've heard they're tasty as well

We've had a big fat seal swimming our beaches for a few weeks. Bit unusual for here. But whales are everywhere this year. Amazing how many there are compared to 20 years ago

They're heading south now . I've seen plenty of seals over the years . They often lay on their backs asleep with their front flippers sticking out of the water. Buggered if I know how they can relax because great whites love them.

I've been bodysurfing a bit with my dodgy knee and keep thinking don't look like the seal.
