Coke has been a bit of presence in the surfing community for quite a while... You hear the stories about glassing a stash of Coke under the old glass-on single fins..., break the fin off upon arrival in Hawaii, and immediately glass it back on...
Read a kind of funny story in the paper today... AFL 3-Strike Drug policy is a hot topic, and voluntary admission gaining impunity... etc...
Evidently Ben Cousin's cleaned his act up in 2005 when the drug policy came into effect, but after a month he realised it was a 3 strike policy... So he decided to continue with his ways and clean up his act when he gets 2 strikes!! (He never got 2 strikes!) In Ben's own words he got through with Zero Strikes with a big slice of luck!... and probably only even cleaned up his act for 2 or 3 months at a time... then a bender!
I leafed through a book at the Airport the other day titled "It's Snowing in Bali" outlining the extent of drug (coke mainly) crime there.
Looking at the photos the Windsurfer boom and grannies undies seemed to be the chosen import method.
10 years back it was everywhere and with huge demand. You would think the firing squad option would have slowed things down a bit , although the book was saying that with x million visitors per year the demand was still very strong.![]()
