I have tried waxing my new board but hasn't worked for me. So a pad it is. I have stripped of the wax with a plastic scraper but any ideas on what to use to get the board clean as, before I put the pad on. Cheers
Leave in NZ sun for 10 minutes, then apply juice from garden lemons, then microfibre cloth with elbow grease should probably get you 99 % of the way there :-)
you can purchase a product from surf stores or online called a pickle, or you can make one. Get a stocking or pantyhose ( the ones you wear on Friday night) fill to make a good fist size with sodium bicarbonate, now rub wax off. Don't have the wax too soft from sun, and don't worry about the bicarbonate coming out of stocking it is ok, it won't hurt your board.
Rather than the sun, using warm water (not hot, 40C max) is much gentler for the board.
I used to scrape the melted wax this way with an (used) credit card, being careful of sand that can scratch the board, and then finish with tissues with Solvent F, but micksmith seems quite interesting.
The pickle works very well. You can use it in combination with a citrus-based wax remover liquid (most surf shops sell some) or an automotive paint surface cleaner (the stuff that car bodywork specialists to prepare a surface before painting) that comes in a spray can. Use the pickle first and then give a final once over with the fluids and a clean soft cloth until the surface is squeaky clean when you run a finger over it.

prepsol is a wax and tar remover used by spray painters in the auto industry its just what you want it can be purchased from most car gadget places.
Diggers wax and grease remover works good too. I only run wax and use this when stripping old wax right off to do a new application
