I just bought a second hand board from them (I'm in Victoria). It arrived in good condition 5 business days after placing the order via Star Track Express. Ben from Ocean Addicts was very pleasant to deal with and the whole process couldn't have gone any smoother.

Having said that there is always the risk of damage during freight as it depends on several individuals at the freight company handling your board, and all it takes is a grumpy link in the chain who hasn't had their morning coffee to ding your board.

Hey 'Duck, I have dealt with Ocean Addicts a number of times and they have always been fantastic and really looked after me. I recently purchased another Naish board from them for what was a very good price and it arrived within a few days here in Vicco, was very well packaged and thankfully had no damage at all. They have always provided me above average advice, service and support and I would recommend them to you.

(Note: I am not affiliated with nor in receipt of any particular special treatment from Ocean Addicts in any way)

Ocean Addicts is a legitimate business with a commercial shop. They are well established on the sunny coast.
There won't be any problems with the board arriving, but might be worth specifying how you want it packaged - at least you cover that part of it to reduce any chance of transport damage.

If you're worried buy it from your local store.

When ordering online, please do the mental check: "What if the board arrives damaged, and I am offered a rebate for having it repaired professionally locally" (or repairing it myself).

If you are not ready to accept this risk, I suggest you do not order online (maybe because you have no affordable repair shop locally).

Some great advise here, you could also get insurance and open the packaging at the depot of delivery this way you have evidence if it turns pear shape.

Yes, that's what I meant actually. The insurance most of the time will just pay the costs of repairs, unless the board is totalled.

Plus going at the depot you spare the board the risks of being handled for local delivery, and you can go when you have time, and not be stuck at home a day.

Well the board turned up right on the day as planned ... but .... not a great finish so sent it back and came with wrong fins so sent those back to, in all fairness I'll probably change those but want to make the decision myself if you know what I mean. I admit it was a painless turnaround getting the board picked up and sent back apart from the fact winter had decided to hold off a bit and 28 degrees in may and I was busting to use it.
So another wait and again for the board turn up, it's on time. So is winter now.. cue find wetsuit
This time the board is perfect....
so in hindsight a couple of things...
If going online go with a shop that honers their return policy, and ponder the advice of those in the thread
and.... 2nd
i don't get why I trialled the board locally and then when I said I'll take one they said sorry don't have one for you, trust me I'd prefer to buy face to face.

yours to ponder...

oh btw, no affiliation, just a guy that saved his cash for a new toy.

Mmmm, well I recently purchased a second hand board from OA from the buy and sell here...

Great sales service at the time of purchase, luckily they packed it really well as my wife witnesses the delivery driver drag the board in its packing box 80m down the driveway including down a couple of steps, luckily no damage from the shipping...

However... the board was advertised as being as new with a minor scuff on the nose, the minor scuff turned out to be one of 2 amateur repairs that I will have to have professionally redone. I took some photos and emailed to OA but have heard nothing not even a courtesy call or return email.

So as they say, buyer beware...

PS. Love the board

Board looks great Slippery Duck and good to hear it all ended up working out.

I have just received a board from east as well (not from OA) but unfortunately mine came with a small ding in the rail. Packing was good with bubble wrap and 2 layers of cardboard so really disappointing. I wonder if the ding was there before packing as it is hard to see till you see it..... now I cant un-see it!

Hopefully this can be sorted without too much hassle... No board for the weekend now and sending back to QLD might be even worse. This is my 3rd online board order and the first problem but I think I will stick to buying from the store from now on.....

Good news.... The supplier got back in touch with me and has agreed to cover the cost of repairs. I reckon that is the sign of great customer service.... No hassles, just put it right. Thanks guys....

What freight company was it sent with? Should we all avoid? Clearly been dropped when transhipping at some stage.
