I am about to purchase a Gopro Hero 4 Black. Looking for some mounts I ran into this one:https://shop.gopole.com/products/arm

which seems to be mounted on a surfboard. Something to consider for my SUP board too.

I have this mount. At the full extension, it is a bit too flimsy and shakes around too much to get good pictures. Using half the pole is okay.

I agree..

Way too flimsy and wobbly..

Don't waist your money..

Thanks for the review and feedback. Keep the money in the pocket, looking for something else on my helmet too.

As well as shaky your leash tends to wrap around the pole on wipe outs and pulls it down. Have used in this position without a pole lot more stable and get cool view of spray flying off the rails

Check out some of DJ's vids and you'll see his rig (no that's not a euphemism!!). He gets awesome angles & footage, though you might need an extra GoPro!!

How about this - not for a surfboard, but might fit on a downwind board:

Looks pretty stable but may be overkill and sure isn't cheap.

If you're willing to screw a mount onto your board, it would result in a lot less vibration. Here are some options:

I think dJ's home made mount is the best going around. Haven't seen a better angle in a down wind clip yet.

DJ, what's the height of your camera from your board's deck level?

No doubt that one would work... until it doesn't. Looks to be way too many metal and moving parts that will inevitably corrode through exposure to salt water. Even the GoPro suction mounts are vulnerable. The beauty of DJ's design is that it is all PVC and will last for a long time. The down side is you go through a lot of duct tape every time you use the mount. Mind you, I wouldn't trust a suction mount in the surf or on a downwinder without some back up duct tape holding it on.
