Sometimes it needs some moisture between the skin and the heart rate strap. Usually a good lick of the strap will do it (which is preferable to someone licking your chest...then again).

ive had tomtoms. his has a hr monitor in the watch.

sadly Andrew you have to slightly wet the skin, but if you sweat or dip your hand in the water it drops out.

I found it the most useless gps hrm watch ive ever tried and took it back next day after trialing it for 2 hrs

just get the normal tomtoms with chest strap hrm.

for me the best hrm watch is the polar m400. accurate and I cant remember a time the hrm dropped out

Strap it on as tight as you can with a little bit of moisture as suggested above and scroll through this thread:

If that doesn't work you are indeed dead (presuming of course that you are heterosexual man...... or perhaps a homosexual woman).

I also just purchased one, and it works well, BUT it has to be pretty tight on the wrist, and make sure there is no air gap, the light sensors seem to not like that.
Its a good sports watch and very easy to navigate, so overall very happy with it.
