bamboo cutting board, some funny design, for better tracking and surf. hope it will work. still needs holes and varnish as from kitchen experience, bamboo board doesnt soak much water... :-) water/SUP test will be alter this week.

Finally. done and tested. its been interesting experience making it. it tracks better than any other fin I used. stability is ok. also speed.

That shape fin requires a tricky double foil.. Did you do that?

This is the size comparison to SB All Star stock fin. yea i think i did pretty much double foil. the edges are quite sharp as its not visible from the pics.

always good to try something new, but I think you may have cut it out in the weaker direction (lamination wise)

totally agree, but I was limited with the board size. I already broke it first time- when pulling out from the finbox, it cracked the whole lenght trough the middle of the base. I glue it back, sand the base for better fitting, and made extra 7 holes, fitting dowels using 2component water resistan epoxy - thats why it was interesting experience. Today I Will see the result.
P.S. I cant use for cutting food as I warnished it with outdoor wood warnish.

Nice one. What didn't you like about the standard All Star fin?

Not that I dont like standar All Star fin, but for me I dont think its stable enough and not enough tracking. i believe i switch from 14x25 race to 14x23 all star to fast regarding stability and tracking. bat fin is just in 'production' for rough conditions. :-)

anyway, i think i saved the fin with dowels. u can see the crack from pulling out of finbox. great experience

Cheers.

I know it doesn't go with the water flow or the appearance, but running the grain vertically would have added a lot more strength to the fin.
Look at the old fins from old classic surfboards, the grain of the fins are always vertical for that very reason.
