Looking at getting a race/downwind board ,im still a novice but enjoy it for fitness etc ,advise and tips needed im 85 kg ,is there a board that does both ?

There's plenty of good boards to choose from out there now.. My advise is don't get talked into something too narrow.. 28" is a good width.. 26" a bit narrow and 30" a bit wide.. Demo, demo, demo.. A board like my 14'x28" GX Javelin or the 29" wide Glide would be perfect IMO..

Fantastic ,thanks is the length of board any concern compared to width as a novice cheers

IMO.. 12'6" boards are great for flat water and racing but when it comes to downwinding the 14' size boards are so much better.. Novice or expert..

Taking a 12'6" on a downwinder is a bit like taking a BMX bike on a mountain bike ride.. It's do'able but not as enjoy'able..
