Hi all, just hoping for some advice on a sup for my 7 year old to use but that would be OK for me too. My partner has a 14" Glide GX which is lovely and I have a 12" supco sabre surf which likes to tip me in the water sometimes. It's also heavy!!!

I was hoping for something that my daughter could manage when all three of us head out for a paddle, but that I could also have some fun on. I was thinking maybe a 12" glide touring or a 9"8 soft top Odysseus. Would either of these work? Or would they both just be way too slow compared to the 14" glide?

We use them mostly on flat water and out in the choppy bay. Not trying to surf, just trying to stay upright cruising around the place and not be too slow.

Any advice very welcome, it's so hard trying to decide!!

I think the boards you are looking at are too wide for your 7yo. The Odysseus will be super slow for them and even the Glide 12 is a big heavy board for a kid.
what about a Nalu, the 10'6 is a great shape for smaller paddlers, and is great fun in small surf so is very multifunctional. If you are finding the 12' a bit tippy this may be a bit out of your league just now, but something to work towards.
Or make it a step easier and look for a 10' or 10'6 Fanatic fly, the thicker rails make these more stable than the Nalu without compromising too much width.

On the money wetspot have an Oysseus for my dad and my nephew 7 years old is far too light and small for the board. Same dimensions as your are thinking of. He is just soooooo light. He cant really paddle it as he is not tall enough for the paddle to miss the side rails.
I would even consider a surfboard or smaller mal for her. Something she could pick up herself and move around. The odysseus is way too heavy for a 7 year old.
I am going to try out my nephew on my mal next holidays.
Look around Fly has some childrens boards, so i am sure nash would too. Also inflatible is worth considering as your daughter weight is so small.
I think I would use a 10-11ft foam kids mal or beginners surfing board.
Also 7 year olds can balance so well. So width is not such a problem.

Thanks so much guys. Really appreciate all the advice. So would a 12" 31" naish glide touring be stable enough for me to chuck the kids on and keep up with my partner on his 14" glide?

it would be stable enough, not going to keep up if he puts the hammer down though, you are on a shorter board with the extra passenger too. better bet would be to get yourself something narrower and lump him with the kid.
