Well seeing as everyone else in the free world is posting videos of Tuesday at Zappers... here's some pics I took out there.
Including the one and only DJ himself, at work filming!!!!

(I think i ended on the cutting room floor though DJ - I was on a Fanatic Prowave 8'10"; you can see it poking out of the whitewash below )

From God's country here in the south of Sydney I am more and more becoming jealous of the DJ territory that brings us the videos and now still pictures of where you guys live.
Not sure if I could convince the 'boss' and extended family to move south just so i can experience first hand what we see from your posts

Great pictures! I think I noticed you taking some shots on an orange camera - they are great quality. (How did you get a picture of your own board in the whitewash?)

It's a small panasonic lumix waterproof jobby... Often carry it stuffed down the wetty on good days. Photo of my board being ejected from the whitewash was by the other thing I take on good days - a mate or two! This time it was the guy on the new starboard widepoint 8'10". You would know him as the bloke who caught lotsa waves kneeling down!

Nah, it's your trademark; I could tell you were surfing the break from about halfway into the paddle down, just by the wavey paddle!
Makes life that bit more fun having guys like you around... Thanks DJ.

As a matter of interest, this is what I got from my RipCurl watch. You can see a couple of waves that ended up on the rocks... (And you can see that I walked my board down there - I couldn't be bothered paddling - I had surfed the previous three days and my legs were like rubber.)

Wow... what software do you use to get that sort of track presentation? Can it read in a standard GPX file or similar? Looks cool...

It is all part of the RipCurl searchGPS watch. A gross overindulgence at A$500, but it tracks all your movements and determines when you are catching a wave. Its estimate of wave speed is pretty good - there are times when I have caught one late and I feel like I am flying but the watch will say I was just mooching along - I think you need to be traveling fast for quite a few seconds for it to record the speed properly.

You access the information via their web site, or via your phone/tablet via their app. Here you can see some of the other info you get. And you can add notes on the session, and it records the tide/wind/swell (but often gets that wrong).
