Has anyone been to Burrell Lake/Wairo Beach [south of Ulladulla] with a SUP?
We're contemplating a trip at Easter and wondering if the surf is manageable for a not too confident surfer...
Cheers
Hi Wadey, I have a place at Ulladulla and have been going there for years. What kind of SUPPING do you want to do? Flat water with a bit of surf?
The surf would depend on the day . Its not a very protected beach , but it is a long beach so it would be easy to get a wave to yourself .
I live in Burrill, and have been sup'ing for 5 years. Plenty of options all over - especially if you want to avoid the crowds. Wairo has Point Nor East at the very protected northern end if its blowing a hell northerly - but does get a crowd. Always worth a look though. Lots of banks up and down that beach if its not too windy. Same with tabourie beach to the south, and Burrill beach to the north.
Burrill entrance can be awesome on its day, but its generally a b-grader at best. Mind you, I'd always rather surf a b-grader on my own than an a-grader with a crew on it.
Avoid Ulladulla Bombie. Off limits to sups and has militant locals.
Thanks for all the advice guys.
Our group will generally be flat water paddling on 12'6' inflatables, but I also have a 10' Mana and am trying to learn how to Surf [I have no surfing background so also learning to read the water].
B grade surf with no crowds sounds perfect for me!
