So last year we went to bali on Air Asia I took my 8'3 naish sup no problems. So this year we booked again for October.. Last night we got a message that our flights were cancelled and we would be getting a full refund as the Direct flight route has been cancelled and we would have to fly to KL now taking 15 hours total...
So we took the refund not that I expect to see it any time soon...
No the misses has been looking at flights for the 4 of us and found some good price ones on Tiger. About $1300 using points where Air asia was $1200 on a special. The problem I think I will have is that the Tiger web site says that the biggest board they will take is 190cm thats 6'2"no where near my 8'6' flow....
Has any one flown tiger with a sup?? or should I just look at jet star or Garuda and pay lots more , The closest is $2000 for the 4 of us.

Hey Slugga, recently went to Bali on Garuda with my 9'31" board. No problems at all, very good service, smallest queue at Bali airport for the return and plenty of leg room on the flight (I'm 6'3"). Would definitely recommend

Also Garuda was good as we were travelling with kids: movies, food, etc.

Go Garuda or Virgin forget Jetstar if your taking a 8.6.

I just went to Bali in may on Tiger. Took my 7'6 sup and 1 short board. No problems. If u look on their website it says 1.9m for domestic and 3m for international. So if you have a direct flight u will be OK.

Just be aware that if you take a 9'5" like I did, the airline might just modify it to be 7'6" ??

Garuda. Worth the extra few $$$$ and I have never had any probs with SUP's over the past four years with them. Been to Bali and Lombok.

Cheers guys..
Tiger are flying direct now and are cheapest at the moment and will take up to 3m boards. flights are around $1600 for the 4 of us wife and 2 kids.. Jetstar are around $2400 and Garuda are over $3000 for the 4 so wont be a option. Friends just flew Tiger with surfboards and had no problems at all and a mate just got back from the Mentawis flying Jetstar and also had no issues. I think the wife has gone with Tiger as we are not fazed by food or entertainment its only 6 hours. just gutted that air asia cancelled as the flights were only $1200..
