Have just purchased my first board and I am after some advice - we are going camping and I'd like to put my Starboard Whopper 10' x 34" on the roof racks with a 25kg tent on top of it. I haven't got the width to put them side by side.
The roof racks are about 1m apart and the tent package is about 900mm long.
Do you see any issue with sitting the tent on to the centre of the board for a 4-5 hour drive? Or should I offset the tent so it is sitting over one of the racks? Or is this not a good thing to do?

I think the weight will be OK in terms of the damage it could do to the board. The board is designed for a 100 kg ++ rider, so unless you create > 4g bumps it will be OK. I would be more concerned about how you protect the board from the movement/vibration of the tent, and the ropes used to tie it down, and the rating of the roof racks. But I would think that good roof racks, padding between board and tent, proper tie-downs (not rope that will cut in to the board bag and board), and padding between the board and racks should mean that everything arrives in good nick.
It shouldn't be a problem with the tent on top of your SUP if secured properly.
A SUP creates a substantial amount of uplift when travelling at speed down a highway. I would start by securing the SUP to the roof racks with tie downs in the usual way. Then use another separate set of tie downs for the tent on top.
Agree with cantSUPenough about transporting the SUP in a board bag.

Yep, I have a board bag as well for added protection, and will be using proper tie downs. Noted on separate tie downs for the SUP and tent.
The Car roof is rated to 100kg and the racks rated to 75kg, so I am good there.

Make sure you have really good padding between the roof racks and the underside of the board. The board is designed to take a 100 kg rider but it's not designed to have that much load concentrated on the area where the racks are pressing. Even consider a thin wide plank of wood (strip of plywood) on top of the rack with foam on top of the plank, anything to increase the area in contact with the board. I've seen plenty of boards damaged from roof racks. Sounds like a hassle but if you end up with horizontal dints on the board you will kick yourself.
Thanks Jonathan. I was thinking similar in that while the board is rated to 100kg, that is for when it is sitting in water I assume, not on two narrow racks
