Is it worthwhile demoing a surf SUP in flat water? That being high performance Surf SUPs.Have past attendees gotten much from that experience or is it best to wait/hope for a demo day near some surf?
Sincerely.

Good question T2M, our experience with Surf demos in Sydney is that it generally results in carnage. The last one had to be called off due to 3m seas.
Obviously conditions are not always like that, but down our end of town if there are any rideable waves, introducing 30 SUP's to the line up will generally lead to friction and someone getting hurt.
We carry the majority of the high performance boards at our store which can be demo'd 7 days a week. We have over 40 boards in demo.
A lot of crew come down to compare the 'feel' and stability of the shorter boards so they can narrow down what boards they want to try in the waves from the store. The ability to try boards across different brands is key.
Throw in the ability to try a few different race boards side by side and let the rest of the family give it a try, we get nothing but positive feedback from the demo days at Balmoral Beach.
