Sponsor Opportunities TassieSUP Winter Classic + Australian Cold Water SUP Championship
hi there fellow SUPers & Supporters
We are now well into Autumn, so next stop Winter, which means it's time to start thinking about the biggest event on the SUP calendar, The TassieSUP Winter Classic + Australian Cold Water SUP Championship, yes that's the one and as usual we are looking for some sponsors, we don't sell "advertiser packages" but we offer unprecedented exposure in the SUP community to all supporters as well as the knowledge that your support will be shared to all entrants whether they are 1st or much further down the ratings order. If you, your business or you know of an organisation that may be interested please get in touch.
Cheers
I can't sponsor, but can I enter? Looks so much fun!!!!
Of course you can enter, the Australian Cold Water SUP Championship is open to all non Tasmanians and a much sort after title, here's the current title holder and notice he's not even wearing booties
Ok, we are now sponsored up, thanks for the support guys, it is very much appreciated and a special thanks to Damian at Jay Sails Wind Kite SUP who secured most of these for us, so expect to take home some awesome gear. There is still time to get some new gear before the comp, so hit our sponsors up now.
entries will open later this week, if you are coming over from "Australia" to compete in the Australian Cold Water SUP Championship division contact us direct for entry to get your discount $10 fee.

It will only be a few weeks before some lucky SUPer will be bolting this to their board??
The Australian Cold Water SUP Championship division is open to all non Tasmanians (Australian & internationals only) so you won't have to worry about going up against some of the most revered cold water SUPers on the planet, ie Tasmanians

About the only locals you see this time of year without booties are those who left them at home drying in front of the fire

Yep, it is unlikely, but not unprecedented to see snow on the beach here!

Eaglehawk threw up some challenging conditions Saturday for a small but enthusiastic crew for the 2019 SUP Titles with1 to 2 metre surf and that notorious shore break to navigate. Many had four heats today making for a tired and thirsty crew at days end. Presentations were held at the Lufra Hotel and Apartments where the crew were staying for the weekend.
Heat one saw Ulverstone surfer David Strickland off to hospital for stitches etc after a heavy wipeout and face bouncing off his board rail edge.
RESULTS:
O/40. 1. Simon Hansen Lohrey, 2.Barry Vaughan, 3.Matt Steele, 4. Andrew Male.
O50/70. 1.Andrew Bowes, 2. Brett Bradford, 3.David Banks, 4.David Smith. 5.Tony Leitch.

Here's the man everyone wants to see, Andy Male made the trip all the from W.A. and is now the 2019 Australian Cold Water SUP Champion
Day 2 races
Tech race was up 1st, held in clean waves at gravel pits to make it a little bit interesting for the crew. Dave Smith took off like a seagull with a hot chip and managed to clear the shore break straight away while the rest got caught inside and were given a small taste of what the guys went through in yesterday's surf comp, Mat Steele made a small inroad to Daves lead, but never really troubled him as Dave was catching clean waves to the beach on each leg, Lionel Daley was held back by the wrong board for the conditions, but did a great job under the circumstances, while Frances Stringer showed the girls how it should be done.
Next was the Taranna to Eagle Hawk Neck Marathon. Now that the crew was warmed up they set off in near perfect conditions from the jetty under the watchful eye of the flotilla from the Taranna Boat Club, Lionel must of been feeling the heat from Mat and Dave and took a few swims to cool down on leg across from Dart Island, but then it was and easy run up the bay to the finish.
Special thanks to the Taranna Boat Club for providing water safety once again.

A few pics from the surf, conditions were tuff, 1st heat took 30 minutes to get out the back before the start, but everyone was happy to have a crack and it got a bit easier, some good surfing was seen.
Looks like a fun event with a great group of SUPsters.
The waves looked awesome this year.
I love the drone view of the venue and the action, thanks!

thanks Creek, always a great crew of SUPers at this event, it's an awesome venue and don't think anyone really cares where they place, they are just there for the fun
Just returned home to SW West Oz after a terrific trip to Tassie. The Cold Water Classic was a great way to kick off the trip. Surfing and hanging out with a welcoming crew of like minded people in a spectacular location. The conditions during the comp were well described as technically challenging, the vibe in the water throughout was awesome. I haven't been in a surf comp since high school more than 30 years ago, can't recall any competitors hooting or calling other surfers into waves back then!
Big thanks to Tassie SUP , in particular Dave Smith,
Surfing Tasmania,
all the sponsors that got on board ,a lot of them through Damien at J Sails.
Keep the stoke, I'll be back!
