Hi folks. Am heading to Phillip Island this weekend and wondering which beach might provide best conditions for a beginner in the surf. I have a Nalu 10'6. Have been paddling heaps on flat water in the Bay, but got smashed at Sandy Point recently trying to get out the back in 3' waves.
Is there anywhere where there is deep water that you can paddle onto a break or maybe somewhere that would have 'small' surf.
Any tips welcome.

Go to Cat bay.. then drive a short distance down the road (south towards the Nobbies) and there's a car park.. Walk down the steps to the beach and turn left.. Walk all the way up to the corner.. Make sure it's mid to high tide because it gets pretty shallow.. That spot will keep you away from the crowds and it's a good sup wave.
