Funny how these things happen once something gets popular.

.....both are fighting over who controls the sport of sup. Don't know about you but I don't want to be controlled. isn't that the great thing about sup and surfing, grab your board and wettie, go where you want when you want with who you want. Ride free.

Follow the money....this is what it is about......Olympics and who gets to represent SUP there and reap the financial rewards.

Most believe (I think) neither should represent SUP but a new body should which represents both of the best of each organisation. Both are strong in their own areas but not in both.

It's hilarious. The surfers say, "We've been organising SUP competitions for years ...". The canoe people say "It's got a paddle. We own it."

The International Surfing Association (ISA) says it has organised competitions for years in the sport.

But the International Canoe Federation (ICF) says the use of the paddle makes it part of its organisation.

Neither of those mobs fully understand the breadth of the SUP disciplines.

I reckon that seeing as SUP is the multidisciplinary sport here we should set up a SUP Council that umbrellas both the ISA and the ICF...

SUP's in charge basically !!!

What could possibly go wrong?

Funny story when I was about 20 back in 1968 I was as surfing in the North sea in the UK and some guys in Kayaks came over to chat. They said surfing would never take off and that kayaking was the way of the future (or words to that effect) and we should really get into kayaking. Still makes me laugh as they really looked down on us whenever they came over to try and steal our waves.
Looks like they are still trying
