this winter weather really sucks. where's good to go, warm water, close by, where I can take the wife (non surfer/SUP'er) + 3 small kids where the wife can get a break? I was thinking Fiji and did a few days on Denerau last year, great for wife and kids not great for me......need to be close to some decent breaks with decent nannies! Ideas v welcome.

Slip down to Melbourne for a few days, you'll probably find Sydney fits the bill...........
Warm one this morning.

Pretty hard to go past the Beachouse in Fiji if you are taking your family , great surf break out front . So much cheaper than the big resorts and my wife loves it and so do my kids. My kids are older than yours but plenty of young families go there.

I shot both these clips at the Beachouse plus we also based ourselves there for Living The Stoke 2 .It's a great place to get access to Frigates and other local breaks plus the fishing is awesome.

Cook island .$ NZ .nice food, warm .has waves or lagoon .no kava.just beer.

slow life style ,its clean ...and high standard .but not to high .

stay on Muri lagoon side ...you won't move ...45 ..minutes to drive the whole island

take a board ..or hire ..

A bit further away, but we went to Kandooma in the Maldives a couple of years ago with my 6yr old.

Great surf breaks all around, with one that is right at the resort. My wife loved relaxing by the pool each day, and doing pretty much as little as she wanted. My son was up early wanting to go to the kids club every day, which was an amazing set-up.

A little harder to get to, but worth every cent.

WOW how good do they all look on a cold/rainy Sydney day! Resort based is great with the kids so all 3 of those are top ideas, thanks guys.

Maldives exy once there? I'm guessing so.

Depends on the package you get set up on. We had breakfast and dinner included, and found it wasn't too bad to buy lunch at the resort each day.

Overall it was probably more than a week in Fiji or other locations, but having been to both I don't regret the extra $$$ at all.

What about New Caledonia? I have just been recently scoping it for a quick cheap trip, looks affordable with some good waves?
