Am starting to think that a bottle of coke and a muesli bar may not be the best pre-sup preparation, has anybody got any rituals in regards to food before or after a paddle?
Don't want to smash a dozen eggs or anything before a paddle, but I am pretty sure I could be doing things better.

Thanks,
Scott.

Geez you will open up a can of worms hereThe experts cant even get it nailed , somethings great one year and bad for you the next. In my view its pretty simple the body uses food in this order for fuel Carbs first , protein second and fats third. So eat pasta and potatoes and rice , fish or chicken , lean meat and healthy fats. And vegies for vitamins and minerals for cell repair. And beer caus it makes you feel good

Can't beat an egg & bacon roll + a skinny cappuccino from the bakery before a surf, keeps me going for up to 4 hours in the surf

Either maccas a few hours beforehand, or a block of cadbury. Both have served me well before every race ive ever done

The one thing i do avoid on race day though is coffee

Bowl of oats with a scoop of slow release protein powder mixed through about 1.5 hours prior. Post workout protein drink after..... Then the bacon and egg, cheese, tomato roll with a latte at the cafe.

Kiwi fruit and a life jacket from an op-shop..... So simple really!
Must say, it took a fair amount of patience to get through that clip.
