Hey Y'all,
Just wondering if anyone does a bit of touring on their raceboards?
I'd be interested to hear from any one who has a story and in particular any sunshine coasters who do a bit.
Where do you like to go, what distance, etc?
I wouldn't mind hooking up with someone for a bit of touring if interested. On the sunny coast of course.
Cheers,
Ken.

I like exploring places you can't easily get to otherwise - best trips are those that have some surf along the way, there's always something cool getting to the surf via the water rather than from the land. I had a preconception that touring/exploring would get pretty lame after the first couple of trips, but I you see something different every time.

My last trip - I came across this - looks like it had been there a month, but I was talking to the guy who was still on board and he said he'd sunk just 1 hour before I got there - was out at sea and only just made it back into the estuary.

I'm pretty sure that's the boat from Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness..."
Was the guy on board Mr Kurtz?

KennyK this one describes a tour coming soon in March

And this one is full of Touring tips and journeys including a Sunshine coast trip.

Hope you get something from these.

I am like you. I get a huge buzz scoring new waves while touring and it is not even about the quality of the wave. Of course great waves are a bonus.

Supexplore, that's pretty hardcore, especially the 50km of portage, 50m is enough for me!

I did see your Molakai vid previously, thought it was awesome, you certainly showed a high level of commitment!

There's not really much offshore here, would probably look at the estuaries, or maybe a bit of both?

The Whitsundays would be awesome though, that's a bit further north.

thinking of organising tour trip from bongaree@ bribie up to golden beach, not sure on tides, start on end of incoming tide at bribie and catch outgoing tide halfway to golden beach. with se wind which should be ok this first part of year. Next mission after want to do downwinder from moreton island to kawana ," but will need boat support as could be dangerous with none " anyway just some ideas working on . look forward to some more input to make these a reality and a few extra people to make possible. just been in japan for 6 weeks so bit rusty on board and just getting back some fitness first but looking at sometime in march . let me know if anyone keen

scotty100. When i completed Golden beach to Noosa I stayed at Golden beach. I rate that area. Along either side of Bribie could be good especially as a down winder. It is safer on the estuary side and I saw the wind surfers ripping it up. Maybe a strong south wind??? Bonus waves at the mouth of the Estuary :)

A few of the BrisSup club guys have done some good touring days when the weathers calm around the few islands in the Moreton Bay Area . Amazing paddles!

Also heard about the sandgate sea kayakers doing a run from redcliffe up the passage to coloundra they run it on the incoming tide and time it so once so fat the outgoing tide the. Sucks them straight out the top! Sounds like an epic journey.

Yeah, I'd be interested in that.
Also interested in D/winder from Bribie to Scarborough or the reverse some time when conditions are favorable.
