Just interested if anyone has played around with the fin setup on their Speeed's and what outcomes you came across.

In particular how a setup would go with a small nubster centre fin similar to the SMIK hipster.

I use a smaller center fin on my 8-10 speed although its not a nubster,love the way it turns of the top now. tried a nubster type fin that i had on one of my old quad fin kneeboards although it has a 50/50foil it was way loose when trying to paddle and real loose on the wave face. Still looking for an nice small fin but i am to cheap to buy a whole set

I went through a long period of using all smaller fins in many of my boards.

lately, I have re-installed the stock 105's in the side bites and a small 4" pivot fin in the center position for most average conditions.
I am liking the increased drive from the larger sides... and the loosness of the smaller center.
If waves are OH or particularly juicy, I'll use a mid sized center like an FCS MF-1 (4.67"..... normal sweep)
I've never needed a bigger center than that.

Here are some pic's that define what I call a "pivot" fin.
For me, the silver fin makes a world of difference in the way a board surfs.

This board is a 9'5 SOUL, with the stock 105's for drive
and the pivot fin for loose!

I have yet to really explore this pivot fin in my Creeks (same tail as your Speeed)
but I expect the same results.
Out for a month after 2nd cataract surgery yesterday... but fall swells will be seeing this fin combo on my Creeks.... and I'll report!

So looking at the fins there, I am assuming around a 4 inch fin would be preferable for a centre?

Nugdam, what are those side fins you are running in the above photo?

Definately enjoying the small trailer fin with medium C-Drive copy side fins on my 8'10" Speeed. This set up has improved my surfing in up to head high beach break. Great hold down the line , drive and speed. Able too maintain better turns when I get my back foot back. It has been a confidence builder. Looking forward to getting out next week.
