Well here I go again trying to store my boards as I have moved 3 times since December, so now I have no garage so the only way I can think of doing it is to go under the house. Day one today prepping the area for the carpenters to come in tomorrow morning to turn this area into 2 gates. Once I have access I can see how much paving I need to do and then get some brackets and problem solved.

In Hawaii that is a typical storage area in the same type of wood framed houses. Fit a big quiver down there.

Day 2 and it is ready to turn into a rack system, MICK I like your idea but what type of trolley are you thinking? I have maybe 4ft clearance and heating duct to contend with?

Either DJ style racks with rollers (Helmy, photos?)
Or start digging and you will have standing headroom two stumps back..................

I have L shape wall brackets that I used last time but maybe I should put some dowel between 2 stumps like in a wardrobe with foam on it and roll them in that way. Just need them to be 6 inches apart so one goes on top of the other.

Easiest rack System I have made using gal pipe. Just need a spanner and an angle grinder.

Made one for under a house which was a very similar size space

Easy to erect and dismantle or adjust

nice job Dave ....i would stay with wood ..easier to attach to your floor beams ...maybe even run them off your floor studs .

Maybe look at put larger Size poly or Pvc pipe over your cross bars as a simple roller system

Lol, yeah kinda. Imagine ( coz I can't draw it ) a frame built on let's say a door with buggy wheels.
i don't know how many boards we're talking about but you could even have them on edge in racks.

Watch out for snakes under you boards. They love it under houses and most of the time you would not even know that you've been living with them for years.

Hey Rockmagnet, no snakes in this area it's way to suburban but thanks for the tip. I found a temporary solution which may become permanent but I really wanted to store my sup out of the bags but it's a bit tight under there and I'm banging bits and pieces from time to time. It's a very small front yard, it's probably 16ft to the front fence from the gates and the boards are about 8 inches off the ground.
I will see if this gives me the s..ts and decide from there, it's not like I can go for a sup anyway at the moment which is killing me as I was forced onto leave for 6 weeks.

Good idea. Here in France it is incredible the amount of critters that will nest in a bag staying outside. I can't begin to imagine what it would be in OZ :-)

Also, store them upside down. It will help sparing the pad from animal life, especially claw-scratching cats...

Cheapest was I found to do it was to go to bunnings, buy tasmanian oak round rods, about 30mm in diameter. I also bought a drill bit the same size. I then drilled holes in normal framing timber, knocked the rods in, glued them in with wood glue. Then I slipped pool noodles over, and the racks have been great. Cost about $30.

ISO boredom got to me and after using the pull system for a while it became apparent that I needed to improve the system. Timber, liquid nails and dowel and this is a much better way f storing under my house!

Dave, its worth doing the DJ roller thing. Just use some plumbing pipe (75 or 100mm), and some rubber mat material. Use contact adhesive to stick the rubber mat down to the roller.
All from Bunnings.
As evidence, I've just put my F16 away after this morning's EPIC downwinder...carried the board in, placed the nose on the rear roller, then just pushed it all the way in till the nose mounted the front roller, kept pushing in...easy.
And IMHO, if you've got your boards under cover, you don't need the covers on them. You only risk osmosis getting into the paint/gelcoat.

Stage two Helmy stage two! DW run would have been great today, I looked as I crossed the Westgate picking up tiles for another project at home while I am on leave! Pool noodles will do.

Not trying to be picky Dave but the diagonal bracing on the gate is going the wrong way. It should always run down back towards the hinges .

Thanks for the tip I will do that when they get rebuilt in hopefully 10 years, metal frames should hold up?

If i was going to do setup like bower boy - what do you suggest as optimum gap between each rack - all my boards are sups and windsurfer 8 - 10 foot - i can stagger fins each end
