I am wondering whether it is worthwhile replacing the cnetre fin on my missus Starboard Widepoint 10.5 with a longer fin. The board currently has a thruster setup, 4.7 inch side fins and 170mm centre fin. This compared to my Nalu with 10.5 inch centre fin.

She is complaining that the board doesn't track that well in the flat water and I have read that fin length can help with that. I just don't want to spend big bucks to get a matching fin (she is pedantic) for not much advantage.

And if I was to get a larger fin - would I necessarily remove the side fins, or keep them there?

Why not "try" the Naish fin and see if theres a difference, and push it all the way forward as well

Agree with ShireSUP, try out the Naish fin, I'd remove the side fins if its just being used on flat water, they give a bit of extra drag because of the slight angle.
But disagree with Shire on the fin placement (sorry mate!) I'd put it all the way back, IMO that will make it less squirelly and help it track straighter.

And if you want to surf it, I'd try something like the C-Drive Thruster set -

you would need the matching side fins for best results, they make the board faster and give it more drive and amazing turning ability, awesome fins IMO. Just send Troy an email to sort out the best set for the board.

If thats too many dollars the other thing that really loosens the board up for surfing is just replacing the centre fin with something smaller like this -
