Hi All:
Just returned from a SUP trip to Samoa. Stayed in an awesome location at SaMoana Resort.
The wave quality was dependent on the wind and swell however we did get a few great sessions in at Boulders, Wakas, Pebbles and Guillotines.
Our surf guides (Noel and Jaz - locals from Lennox Head who own one of the surf shops in town) really went out of their way to put us in some epic waves over our stay.
Just a couple of happy snaps below.
Equipment is a 7'4" JP Pro with VP fins (yes they are as good as everyone raves about). The board handled the hollow solid conditions fine. I couldn't fit my Gulliver Box SUP in however was happy to stick with the JP when the going got a bit hairy.
If anyone is keen on this location then PM me and I'll drop you some details.
Cheers. Gav.
I'll try and dig out some more Rob.
Beware that Samoa is a goofy footers dream with the majority of the breaks being lefts.
A couple more photos.
Another thing to be aware of in Samoa are the 'Sneaky Samoan Sets'. Just when you think you've got a place wired in between sets, without warning you will see water draw off the reef and waves will stand up 2 to 3 times bigger than the normal set waves and just wipe everyone out. There is nothing you can do but admire the power of the ocean and hang on!
