Hello fellow SUP'ers
I just recently got my own board and started getting more serious about SUPing. My main interest is more flat water cruising and site seeing.
I saw that overseas they have SUP route guides that allow you to explore those 'hidden gems' you can't get to by any other means.
Is there anything similar for Victoria water ways - Port Philip Bay, lakes, rivers?
Thanks,
Emanuel
Not that I know of.. Try some kayak or canoe shops like Canoe's Plus.. and join SupVic and meet other sup'ers.
I have the "Paddle Eastern Australia - New South Wales and Queensland" Chris and Yvonne McLaughlin isbn 978-0-9803146-0-1
The companion book "Paxxxxxxxxxx - Victoria and The Murray River" should provide a wealth of info
Written mainly for kayakers, the information is also applicable for SUP - rivers ,lakes, dams and campsites with entry/exit spots, directions for all different sorts of
SUP activities
For instance - a couple of months ago we picked a weekend with the right tides - low at the mouth at 11am, camped at Raleigh caravan park, and paddled downstream
with the tide to Mylstrom (has a great coffee shop overlooking the Bellinger River. Sat around with coffee and scones in the sun and waited for the tide to turn - then a relaxing 6k return paddle.
Organise your trips around tides in tide affected areas - if several ks upstream - ring the local post office or pub for info
Happy paddling Steve
Sorry for my late response.
Many thanks for your replies gents. I will definitely check out your suggestions and hopefully in a few months I will be able to contribute from my experience.
SUPVIC has a nice map with SUP spots that has a lot of potential....
