I'd be interested if anyone else has had a crack form on their deck of their starboard or other brand board before?
my 3 week old (3 surf) starboard widepoint in starlight construction has developed a 10cm crack midway along board in the deck close to the rail. Haven't had any impact or damage at all over the 3 weeks I have had the board. I'm completely confused as to what could have caused the crack. Fibreglass layer at crack seems very thin 1mm or less in thickness. This is our 7th board our family has had and never remotely had anything like this happen before. Have submitted a warranty claim with starboard, but still waiting for a response after 3 weeks!
any feedback on similar problems and cause would be much appreciated,

Annie 43,bummer I hate it when this stuff happens,IMO,you have done the right thing giving the outlet /starboard 3 weeks to reply,still no response! Go hard on them now!!!

Could it be a compression crack from being tied down on a roof rack or stuff being piled on it? Hard to advise without a picture.

Yep. Take lots of photos Arnie.
Dont surf the board again and keep following up on phone/email.
keep makin' noise until you get an appropriate response.

Similar problem was talked about on the standupzone. Apparently there was a manufacturing defect. Starboard responded really well, so give them a call!!

This was also my best guess initially. I put the board back on the car roof racks and the crack is quite a bit away from the supports and due to curve i don't think sees any stress in board when tied down. I've attached a photo. Thanks for your thoughts

I bought an avanti about 5 years ago and noticed when i picked up the board it had two raised sections in the rail running diagonally. It was my first sup and thought it was normal. After a couple of paddles i noticed the clear coat had cracked over the sections and water had begun to soak into the pine veneer. I took the board back to our friends at Zu in Melbourne who basically told me that i had fallen on the board and the best they could do was offer a trade in on a new board. I even had photos showing the imperfection on the rail before it had even got wet but still no love from our friends at Zu. 4 hour round trip to bring the board in was a waste of time and in the end got it repaired locally. Hope you have luck with your board mate , but dont count your chickens. P.S i also have a widepoint in starlight and have repaired the deck twice with cracks either side off the handle.pays to learn to do your own repairs in this game.
