Hello all,
I'm in a group for one of my classes and we are seeking information about Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) habits for a project of ours. If you could, please answer any/all of the following questions. Thanks!

1. What items do you currently bring with you when you paddle board?
2. Are there any items you wish you could bring, but can't for some reason? If so, what are the items?
3. Do you listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks while SUP? If so, how do you listen? (headphones, bluetooth, etc.)
4. If you've used a bluetooth speaker while SUP, how do you carry it? And have you ever lost one to the water?
5. How expensive is the paddle you use?
6. How do you entertain yourself while paddling/on the water?
7. How much would you pay for a way to safely carry (and use) your phone while SUP?

Are you only interested in flat water paddling or is information on stand-up surfing and down-winding useful for you too?

Information on any style (surfing/flat water/down-winding) would all be very helpful, thank you! If one or more of the questions doesn't apply to your specific style, feel free to skip it. My group and I are just doing a project on gathering research. I appreciate any and all help!

1. What items do you currently bring with you when you paddle board?
leash, paddle, UV Tanktop, boardies. Swap in a waist leash and impact vest for the tanktop and leash when its double overhead+ surf

2. Are there any items you wish you could bring, but can't for some reason? If so, what are the items?
Telephoto camera

3. Do you listen to music/podcasts/audiobooks while SUP? If so, how do you listen? (headphones, bluetooth, etc.)
Nope.

4. If you've used a bluetooth speaker while SUP, how do you carry it? And have you ever lost one to the water?
I haven't and I went I see others with them I usually wish they would lose it in the water.

5. How expensive is the paddle you use?
$350 USD

6. How do you entertain yourself while paddling/on the water?
BSing with other people in the line up between sets.

7. How much would you pay for a way to safely carry (and use) your phone while SUP?
Probably $100 I'd guess.

This sounds suspiciously like you are conducting market research to develop a new product, which if you are you should just be honest and state that in the first place. Who is "my group and I" and what is the class you're attending? Maybe more of us would be interested in attending if it has anything to do with sup?

I guess you are asking the members of this forum to contribute free work for your project, whatever it is.
It will elicit more responses if people gain something in return. Even just promising to share back here your results.

PS: Here is my free advice: #5 is ambiguous: do you mean the paddle, or the board to perform Stand Up Paddling on?

Isnt SUP time an escape from the prison sentence of phones and constantly being able to be contacted?

I'd pay to prevent any such device ever being developed. The waves are an escape.
